Because of the restructuring of the high school and middle schools, the Band Freshman (who are an integral part of the award winning DHS Band) will be in a unique situation. Hopefully this addendum will address these unique circumstances!
In a November 1993 meeting with superintendent Pendry Clark, it was determined that the Freshman Band Members of CVMS and PWLMS will be bussed to DHS one day a week during marching season. Since DHS is on "block scheduling," the bussing will occur during lunch on the second "Band Day" of the week. This may be a Wednesday or Thursday. The Marching Season concludes in mid-November with the Fairfield Tournament of Champions!
Band Trip... As a Freshman Band Member, you will be able to participate on any overnight trip the Band may take...
Band Performances... You shall perform with the DHS Band at all marching performances, including the "overnight marching trip."
Transportation... The same rules apply, except you shall be bussed to DHS arriving at 12:15 PM in the band room (one day per week). You will then take the bus home from DHS or make other arrangements).
Band Council... Each Middle School Freshman Class shall have one representative on the Band Council.
Honors Program... You shall be able to participate with DHS. The taping will either be done at DHS or your school. The CVMS or PWLMS music budget will pay your audition and participation fees. For the solo and ensemble festival you may choose to participate with your school or DHS. However, only High School Students (grades 9-12) may participate at the All-State Festival.
Booster Organization... All parents of the Freshman Class are encouraged to participate in the organization.
In Conclusion... The rules and regulations apply... Just for Marching Season and the "Honors Program." (If you do not participate with the DHS Band you may not participate in any High School Honors Program!!!)
